“Today’s electric technologies to change air transportation of tomorrow”
H55: Electric propulsion technologies
Develop certified electric propulsion solutions to make air transport clean, safe, quiet, affordable and ultimately autonomous
Meet the Founders
The team behind H55
Heading-up the Solar Impulse project together with Bertrand Piccard, André converted the vision of a solar airplane with unlimited autonomy into a reality by building up the technical team.
André lead the design, construction and testing of 2 Solar Impulse airplanes and managed flight missions. With the completion of the first-ever circumnavigation of the globe in a solar airplane without a drop of fuel, André flew the historical 5 day 5 night leg from Japan-to-Hawaii, a world record for the longest solo flight in an airplane of any kind.
Fueled by a drive to push technological and human boundaries of the possible, André’s passion for exploration is matched only by his persistence to promote sustainable and clean technologies.
Fascinated by aviation from his early youth, André learnt to fly with the Swiss air force and holds an assortment of professional airplane and helicopter pilot licenses. A graduate engineer from EPFL and holder of a management science degree from MIT, André entrepreneur career included successfully launching and selling several start-up companies. With this experience in aviation and business, André is well positioned to bring aviation to the next level in terms of energy efficiency.
For the second airplane, Sebastien designed the system architecture and the development of the redundancies systems and fallback modes. Sebastien’s work at Solar Impulse earned him the prestigious AIAA aircraft design award for innovative design of a piloted all-electric aircraft.
An electrical engineer and aerobatics pilot, Sebastien, was educated at the Engineering School in Valais, Switzerland whereby he received an honors award for this diploma thesis as well as at the Münster Technical University in Germany.
His career started off at the Kudelski Group where he worked as a digital circuit and software engineer. Sebastien also worked on the Antares Electric Glider improving the battery management system.
His passion for clean technologies, has led him to work as a renewable energy manager for the Canton Valais innovation arm, CimArk.
At H55, Sebastien is leading the development of the power and energy Management systems.
Gregory began his career at the World Economic Forum where he rose to the position of Director and Member of the Executive Board. From there he moved into media and technology, occupying senior management positions positively impacting revenue and growth through spearheading business expansion which included entering new markets, developing new products, managing group wide marketing, and making acquisitions in technology, content and e-commerce companies.
Educated in Canada, the USA, and Switzerland, Gregory holds postgraduate degrees in economics, diplomacy and negotiations.
At H55 Gregory assumes the role of business development, government relations, worldwide certification and technical and institutional partners.
