Meet the Founders
The team behind H55
André lead the design, construction and testing of 2 Solar Impulse airplanes and managed flight missions. With the completion of the first-ever circumnavigation of the globe in a solar airplane without a drop of fuel, André flew the historical 5 day 5 night leg from Japan-to-Hawaii, a world record for the longest solo flight in an airplane of any kind.
Fueled by a drive to push technological and human boundaries of the possible, André’s passion for exploration is matched only by his persistence to promote sustainable and clean technologies.
Fascinated by aviation from his early youth, André learnt to fly with the Swiss air force and holds an assortment of professional airplane and helicopter pilot licenses. A graduate engineer from EPFL and holder of a management science degree from MIT, André entrepreneur career included successfully launching and selling several start-up companies. With this experience in aviation and business, André is well positioned to bring aviation to the next level in terms of energy efficiency.
As Executive Chairman of H55, André oversees strategy and aircraft design concepts.
As a professional commercial helicopter rescue pilot with Air Zermatt --- in addition to being a fixed wing, IFR rated and a passionate aerobatic pilot --- Thomas mission experience includes 2’500 rescue operations and over 10’000 hours of flight experience.
This combined know-how in flight operations and business offers H55 an important asset in terms of building and commercializing propulsion solutions and configurations.
Thomas holds a Bachelor degree in Economics, a Masters degree in Finance and an MBA from the University St. Gallen.
At H55 Thomas is responsible for aircraft configuration, general management and finance.
Dominique is widely recognized as being the inventor of many of today’s aerobatic maneuvers whereby he was inspired by his close friendship with the word renowned Red Bull Pilot, Hannes Arch. A passion for paragliding, Dominique developed and tested more than a dozen paragliders.
Dominique thus brings considerable expertise and experience in the area of flight static, aerodynamics, flight-testing and system integration.
Prior to joining H55, Dominique was part of the senior management team at Kissling & Zbinden, heading-up the engineering department with responsibility for projects totaling more than CHF 1 billion.
Dominique holds university degrees in civil engineering and project management including a Masters in Business.
